WXXI Public Television and Radio: Television/Homework Hotline Intern, Rochester, NY UNPAID
This intern will assist the Executive Producer and the Producer of Homework Hotline.  Homework Hotline is WXXI's live statewide call-in show where kids receive help with homework problems right on the air.   Designed for children in grades 4 through 12, Homework Hotline provides the tools students need to succeed with homework, and supports academic achievement across a variety of New York State Learning Standards.

The Administrative Program Intern will conduct data entry for the program; take notes at Elder Divas meetings and distribute minutes; take attendance at Diva meetings and enter participant data; develop and maintain database of program participants; develop and maintain database of service providers; coordinate program contacts and resources; compose ‘thank you’ letters for guest speakers, workshop providers and donors; complete purchase orders and assist with reconciling program expenditures; track closet inventory; track information requests (speaking engagements, statistics, etc.)

This intern will assist with day-to-day activities in the Accounting Department. Work would include assisting with month-end closing, account analysis and reconciliations, and the accounts receivable and accounts payable cycles.  Will reconcile checking and investment accounts to general ledger.  Working under the supervision of the Director of Finance, who is a CPA and CMA, the intern should be majoring in accounting and possess good analytical skills.

This internship will provide a college-level student with experience in the technology and operations of television and radio broadcasting facilities with a strong emphasis on the technology employed and the operations involved in broadcasting. This will include on-air television operations, AM & FM transmitter operations, as well as digital television facility management. The goal of the technology & operations internship is to give students a background and entry-level skills to begin a career in the broadcasting.

WXXI Public Television and Radio: Audio Engineering Intern, Rochester, NY UNPAID
Duties will include preventive and routine maintenance of equipment, installation and assembly of audio gear as needed. There will be live broadcasts that include the setup of microphones, mixers and recorders as each particular remote dictates. Studio production will require the same skills as above with the added emphasis on production and editing along with dubbing, documentation and the distribution of nationally produced shows. Interns will assist on client type services, may be asked to assist in other departments with audio-related tasks, learn the operation of the ENCO storage and automation system and assist producers and staff.

WXXI Public Television and Radio: Interactive Services/Web Intern, Rochester, NY UNPAID
This intern will assist the Web Designer and Interactive Services Department. Duties may include examining the WXXI.org webpages for errors and making corrections, working with the web design team to understand and participate in the design process, testing out newly created pages for functionality and usability, migrating content from one web solution to another, and participating in WXXI's social media initiatives.  

WXXI Public Television and Radio: Creative Services/Public Information Intern, Rochester, NY UNPAID
This intern will assist the Station Publicist and Creative Services staff. Duties include writing press releases, posting online highlights on the website, assembling mailing lists, researching special projects, providing assistance with outreach efforts and assisting with promotional efforts for all of WXXI's services.

WXXI Public Television and Radio: Second Opinion Medical Program Intern, Rochester, NY UNPAID
A medical program that is being produced by WXXI Public Broadcasting to air nationally on public TV stations. The half-hour series is studio- based and engages a panel of healthcare professionals/experts, from various areas of medicine from Rochester and around the country, in carefully researched real-life medical cases. As viewers watch these experts discuss the case, they learn about complex medical issues and become better consumers of their own healthcare. It is our goal to raise the level of public understanding of healthcare and medical decision making.
