If you have an interest in law there are two wonderful alums who are established professionals in the field of law that will be able to answer your questions about law school and offer their advice and expertise.  Please note the talks are on the same day but at different times.  Free Food will be served.

Bloom Strategic Counsel, PLLC, is a Washington, DC based firm offering public policy, government relations, and antitrust analysis and counseling services.  It was founded in March 2013 by Seth Bloom, long-time former General Counsel of the U.S. Senate Antitrust Subcommittee.  Mr. Bloom is an attorney with nearly three decades of extensive governmental and private sector experience in antitrust and competition law.  He possesses substantial experience with the critical regulatory and competition issues facing key industries including telecommunications, media and high tech; transportation and aviation; and health care.   Bloom Strategic Counsel’s client list includes leading companies in the high tech, telecommunications, health care, and investment industries, including Microsoft, Sprint, Masimo, and JNK Securities.
Mr. Bloom spent nearly 14 years in the U.S. Senate on the staff of the Judiciary Committee’s Antitrust Subcommittee.  He began as a counsel on the Antitrust Subcommittee staff of Sen. Herb Kohl, who served as Chairman and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee during Mr. Bloom’s tenure.  From 2008 to January 2013, Mr. Bloom served as General Counsel of the Senate Antitrust Subcommittee.   In August 2012, Mr. Bloom was named to the “Hill Hot List” by National Law Journal/Legal Times as one of the top 15 lawyers working in Congress.

Who: Jared Kanofsky ‘06

Jared is an attorney at Merlo Kanofsky & Gregg, Ltd in Chicago.  He received his MS ’07 in Chemical Engineering; BS ’06 in Biomedical Engineering, minor in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rochester.  He is a litigator, a “trial attorney”, not a transactional attorney. His practice focuses primarily in the areas of tort defense and insurance coverage.  The majority of the cases Mr. Kanofsky handles involve personal injury, property damage, products liability, and/or disputes over insurance coverage.  Jared is also developing a small book of practice in intellectual property. 
While At Rochester Mr Kanofsky did independent research during graduate and undergraduate; and was a graduate teaching assistant. He also was involved with Biomedical Engineering Society, Chemical Engineering Society, Pre-law society.
