The Institute prepares
high-achieving African American men to be leaders of great character who
make significant contributions to their communities, our country, and

Comprehensive leadership and professional development workshops
Private briefings with influential leaders
Housing provided by the Institute
Service as teachers and mentors in the Institute's Youth Scholar Academy
Participants join a network of more than 150 talented African American men across the world.
Applicants must be college sophomores,
demonstrate strong academic performance, exhibit leadership potential,
and commit to two summers. All majors are encouraged to apply.
Robert Fisher '14
Robert Fisher attends the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where
he maintains a 4.0 GPA as a Political Science major and History minor.
Robert is Student Body President and a William E. Brock Scholar in the
University’s Honors College. He also mentors elementary school students
through the UTC School of Education. Recently, he was appointed to the
Tennessee Higher Education Commission as the student representative of
the University of Tennessee system. During his first summer in the
Institute, Robert interned at the Center for American Progress.
