Upcoming Public Health Conference



May 2-3, 2014 Annual Outreach Conference to Increase Diversity in Science.


The Conference is sponsored by Harvard's Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics (CCDD), and is for undergraduate students from under-represented groups who have an interest in public health & mathematical modeling.

In order to take advantage of this opportunity, applicants must meet all of the criteria below:
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or permanent residents of the U.S
  • Applicants must be from an underrepresented group in biomedical research, which includes: students with disabilities; students from an economically disadvantaged background (this requires additional supportive documentation); students from racial and ethnic groups that are underrepresented, such as: Blacks or African Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, American Indians or Alaskan Natives, and Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders
  • Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Applicants must be from a quantitative science background OR have taken several quantitative classes beyond intro level courses
Early application submission is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED, although March 15 is the application deadline.

The Conference features professional development sessions on Friday May 2nd, and scientific talks on May 3rd from our researchers & students. The CCDD covers lodging costs as well as travel scholarships (for those who live outside of Boston) for those students who are accepted.
