Who: Steve Lega '05 Operations Manager
Employer: Carestream Health, Rochester, NY
When: Wednesday, September 24 at 12:00pm
Steve's Bio: Steve is an Operations Manager with Carestream Health, a global provider of medical and dental imaging and healthcare IT solutions headquartered in Rochester, NY.  He leads a centralized operations group responsible for reporting, analysis, contract operations, forecasting and sales support for Carestream's healthcare IT business within the US and Canada.  He has held a variety of corporate finance, accounting and business operations roles since graduation from the UR. Steve received his BA in Economics and Mathematics with a minor in Statistics in 2005 and furthered his education at RIT, where he received his MBA in Finance in 2008.

Who: Erin Bank '03, Research Development Specialist
Employer: UCSF, San Francisco, CA

Erin’s Bio: My current position as a Research Development Specialist at UCSF has allowed me to blend my scientific background with my strong writing and project management skills. I manage the Large Grant Development Program, which has supported 25+ grant proposals per fiscal year. These proposals all involve bringing world-renowned scientists together as teams to perform research in a multi-disciplinary way. This program thus far has been purely defensive: responding to a grant opportunity or working with a group that's already been formed. My goal is to develop my career to include an offense: poising researchers and the institution to creatively and strategically produce the best science.

Who: Alexander Chu, Head of North Asia International Banking & Country Executive, Hong Kong
Employer: Royal Bank of Scotland plc

Alex's Bio: As Head of International Banking for North Asia and Country Executive for RBS Hong Kong, Mr. Alexander Chu is responsible for the delivery of RBS’s entire product suite to corporate and public sector clients in Hong Kong and North Asia. Alex leads the bank’s International Banking operation in Hong Kong and North Asia, covering the business as well as regulatory requirements. Alex joined ABN AMRO in 1998 as Treasurer for the bank in Hong Kong and China, a position he held for seven years. In 2005, he assumed the position of Head of Global Markets, Hong Kong. In 2006, he was appointed the Head of Commercial Client Segment for Hong Kong and China as well as the Country Executive of ABN AMRO Bank N.V. Hong Kong. In 2008, he was appointed Acting Head of Corporate Coverage & Advisory, Asia Pacific, before assuming the position of CAO Banking, Asia Pacific and Acting Head of Corporate Coverage, HK in 2009. He was appointed as the Country Executive of RBS PLC Hong Kong and RBS N.V. Hong Kong in addition to Head of Corporate Coverage HK in November 2009. In September 2010, he was further appointed as Head of Corporate Coverage China. In addition to his existing roles, Alex was further appointed as Head of International Banking North Asia in February 2012. Prior to ABN AMRO, he spent 6 years at UBS in Tokyo as Head of Trading & Sales. His extensive banking career started with Citibank, where he worked for 13 years in Corporate Banking and the Treasury Department in Hong Kong but also in other parts of Asia where he held the position of Head of FX in Sydney and Head of Proprietary Trading in Tokyo. Alex holds a BA in Economics from the University of Rochester, New York, 1979.

Who: Dave Drury, Research Analyst
Employer: Wegmans Food Markets, Rochester, NY
When: Wednesday, October 1st at 3:00pm
Dave's Bio: Dave received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Rochester in 1984. He is currently a Research Analyst in Special Projects and Big Data at Wegmans Food Markets, where he has worked since graduating from the University. While  at Wegmans, Dave has held roles in Store Operations, Consumer Research, Information Systems, and Merchandising. His current responsibilities include the implementation of Text Analytics to better understand the more than 100,000 communications Wegmans receives each year from consumers, as well as the development and implementation of reporting generated by the company’s newly created Enterprise Data Warehouse. Dave earned an M.A. degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington in 2012. Dave’s wife Christie is also a U of R Graduate (’85, Nursing) who works at the University of Rochester Medical Center, and his son Stephen is currently a Rochester undergraduate (’16, Physics).

Who: Lauren Rush, ’99, Senior Manufacturing Technology Engineer
Employer: Dupont Cyrel Packaging Graphics
When: Thursday, October 2 at 12:00pm
Lauren’s Bio: Lauren Rush received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1999 from the University of Rochester. For the past ten years she has worked for Dupont in the Cyrel® Packaging Graphics business and currently she is a Sr. Manufacturing Technology Engineer and Six Sigma Black Belt.  The Cyrel® product is a flexible printing plate made of polymer between two plastic layers and this is use in the flexography market to print graphics on plastic, label and corrugated packaging. While at the University of Rochester, Lauren was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and held leadership positions in AIChE and SWE. After graduation, she went to work as a Manufacturing Engineer for Corning in the Telecommunications Products Division improving the production of optical fiber.  Then she went on to receive her Masters of Science in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University. After that, she went to work as an Engineer for Nestle Research and Technology Center where she travelled throughout Europe to achieve customer feedback for table top coffee machines. Her husband Chris and daughter Claire live in Whitehouse Station, NJ.  For the past twelve years, she has enjoyed volunteering her time for UR Admissions as an Alumni Representative interviewing applicants and recruiting at local NJ high schools.

Who: John Roman III, Financial Associate
Employer: First Niagara Bank, Rochester, NY
When: Wednesday, October 15th at 12:00pm
John's BioAfter graduating from University of Rochester I began working for JP Morgan Chase in retail banking. After about a year I entered into investment training where I earned my Series 6, 63, and Life and Health licenses. After about two years I left JP Morgan Chase and retail banking for First Niagara Investment Services/LPL Financial. Currently I handle financial planning, investments, and client retention for Rochester.

Who: Chad Hunter '12, Process Engineer
Employer: Exxon Mobil Research & Engineering, Washington, D.C.
When: Wednesday, October 22 at 12:00pm
Chad’s Bio: Chad works to supply energy needs while also focusing on efficient energy extraction and maximizing resource utilization. He currently works as a Process Engineer at ExxonMobil, where he specializes in engineering support for hydroprocessing and reforming operations at ExxonMobil refineries. Prior to this, he took on several research positions at BP, Novartis, General Motors, MIT, UR and Cornell. Chad received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Rochester in Chemical Engineering in 2012, and furthered his education at MIT, where he received his MSCEP in Chemical Engineering in 2013. 

Who: Dr. Ildem Akerman, Postdoctoral Fellow in Diabetes
Employer: IDIBAPS, Spain
When: Wednesday, November 5th at 12:00pm
Ildem’s Bio: Dr. Ildem Akerman is a molecular biologist specialising in the field of Diabetes epigenetics. She is currently a senior  postdoctoral fellow at Imperial College, London,  but is based in Barcelona, Spain. She has graduated from University of Rochester with a Bachelors degree in Molecular Genetics. She continued her studies at University of Oxford and received a PhD degree in the field of Biochemistry. After graduation, she moved to CRG, Barcelona, to specialize in the field of epigenetics. She is currently working in the identification and functional characterization of a novel class of RNA genes in the pancreatic islet.
