Who: Jeremy Steflik, '01, BioScience/Biochemistry
Career: Process Development Specialist, Pfizer, Inc.
Jeremy's Bio: Jeremy is
Process Development Scientist at Pfizer, Inc, working in Groton, CT.
For the past eight years he has been with the Biocatalysis Center of
Emphasis, a group within Pfizer focused on using isolated enzymes or
whole cell organisms to perform chemical reactions that traditional
organic chemists find problematic. A large part of Jeremy’s work
centers on enzyme engineering; modifying enzymes found in Nature to
better suit the demands of the pharmaceutical production environment.
He received a BS in Biochemistry with Distinction in Research in 2001
and is currently enrolled in a Biology Master’s program at Brown
University. At Rochester, Jeremy was a DeKiewiet Research Fellow and an
active member of the UR Fencing Club.
